Weekend Bamboo Bhatak Workshop
In November 2012, before the end of the world, we built this bhatak at Jim and Buds' Cutloose Bamboo Nursery - Longpoint Rd, Moorland, 2443 (Ph: 02 65563098). It was the first time I had done a Bhatak at a workshop, so it was an interesting challenge to organize it in such a way that the roof could be built where it would be easily reached by many hands. So we built the roof base first, then propped it up temporarily while we set the legs on the stirrups. Next we lowered the base to finish the roof frame at ground level. This way, when the final lift happened, the legs could go straight into place to take the weight of the structure.
